Dr.Mubarak Bidmos
Assistant Professor Dr. Bidmos is a medical graduate of the University of Lagos. After undergoing rotation in the four major clinical disciplines as part of the internship program at the St. Nicholas Hospital in Lagos, he moved to South Africa where he completed his MSc and PhD degrees in Anatomy at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. He was the course director for anatomy for medical students and also taught gross anatomy and embryology to dental, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and pharmacy students. He also has an extensive teaching experience at the University of Toronto in Canada where he taught in the faculties of Medicine, Pharmacy, Kinesiology and Arts and Science. His research interest is in the establishment of local standards for human identification from skeletons and has published widely in reputable journals. He also acts as a reviewer for a number of journals including Forensic Science International and the International Journal of Osteoarcheology.
Dr.Michail Nomikos
Assistant Professor Dr. Michail Nomikos earned his B.Sc. in Biochemistry from the University of Liverpool (UK) in 2000; and his M.Sc. in Medical Genetics with Immunology from Brunel University (UK) in 2002. The same year, he was awarded a PhD studentship from the School of Medicine to perform his PhD at Cardiff University (UK). After completing his PhD, he joined the NCSR ‘Demokritos’ in Athens (Greece) as a post-doctoral Research Fellow. In 2012, he returned to Cardiff University as a Senior Research Associate. In 2014, Dr. Nomikos was awarded a highly competitive Intra-European Marie Curie Fellowship to perform his research at Cardiff University until 2016. His research focuses on understanding the process of cytoplasmic calcium signalling, in different cell types, including egg activation during mammalian fertilization. His research interests also involve the elucidation of the molecular mechanism in which mutations in calmodulin lead to cardiac arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. He has a variety of teaching experience, including the supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate medical students. He has over 30 peer-reviewed publications (including 2 book chapters) in highly ranked scientific journals. In 2013, Dr. Nomikos was awarded the prestigious ‘Fertility and Sterility Investigator Achievement Award’ by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.
Dr.Maha Desouki
Lecturer Dr, Desouki attained her Bachelor degree in Medicine & Surgery (MBBCh) from Cairo University Faculty of Medicine, Egypt (2001) and achieved her (M.Sc.) degree in Pediatrics from Cairo University Medical School, Egypt, (2008).
Since 2003 she worked as a pediatrician with remarkable exposure in neonatology, pediatric cardiology and hematology.
Dr. Desouki has special interest in medical research. Areas of research include pediatric cardiology publishing “Pediatric Supraventricular Tachycardia”, and Infection Management Control where she was certified from George Washington University Medical Center, Washington DC in October 2011.
Prior to joining College of Medicine, Qatar University Dr. Desouki had a substantial clinical tutoring background teaching Clinical Pediatrics and Neonatology to both undergraduate and postgraduate students for more than 10 years. She is also member in several international scientific organizations and societies.
Dr.Ramya Nanjappa
Clinical Tutor I, Dr. Ramya Nanjappa, have Graduated with MBBS degree from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health sciences, Bangalore in 2008 with outstanding academic achievements.
I completed my Postgraduation in MS OBG from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health sciences in 2012 with 2nd Rank for the University.
I also hold DNB in OBG from National Board, NewDelhi.
I am specially trained in Infertility, Laparoscopy & Ultrasonography.
I worked as Assistant Professor In Medical institution in India,training & mentoring Undergraduates & Postgraduates for 2.5 years.
I have also worked as consultant gynaecologist in tertiary health care set ups for 2 years.
I am highly motivated & dedicated to my work with a will to go that extra mile. I am passionate about teaching & my profession with a humane touch.
Dr.Hamda AL-Thawadi
Assistant Professor Dr Hamda AL-Thawadi is an assistant professor in College of Medicine, Qatar University. She obtained her PhD in molecular biology (cancer) in 2015 from Paris Saclay University, Paris, France. She worked on different projects in molecular biology in different labs in Paris such as Hôpital Hôtel-Dieu, Hôpital Saint-Antoine and Faculté de Médecine VI, Paris, France. Furthermore she worked on different projects about ovarian cancer in research labs of Weill Cornell Medical College, Doha, Qatar.
Dr. Hamda gained her BSc. and MD. from Arabian Gulf University, Medical College, Kingdom of Bahrain in 2005. She has done her internship and residency in Hamad Medical Corporation, Doha, Qatar.
Before joining QU, She joined Qatar Foundation in 2009 as a research analyst working on evaluating research proposals for international organization and establishing partnership with different institutes in and outside Qatar. In 2011 she started the Qatar Research Leadership Program-Science track where after that she has completed this program and graduated in 2015.
Dr.Halema Al-Farsi
Assistant Professor Dr. Halema Al-Farsi joined Qatar University in August 2016 as assistant professor in collage of medicine. She holds an M.D. 2005 from Arabian Gulf University in Kingdom of Bahrain, internship and clinical training at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC). Dr. Halema Joined Qatar Research Leadership Program (QRLP) in Qatar Foundation as research analyst III in 2009. Her main responsibilities were including but not restricted in establishing a partnership with outside institutes, evaluating research proposals for international organizations. She completed the QRLP in 2015. Dr. Halema received her PhD in Cancer from Paris Saclay- Paris Sud University in 2015. She conducted several research projects in different Labs including Weill Cornell medical collage in Qatar WCMC-Q, Hôpital Hôtel-Dieu, Hôpital Saint-antoine and Faculté de Médecine Paris VI in France. She received Recognition letter from H.H Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al-Thani for her achievement in 2016.
Dr. Halema is highly skilled Doctor and Researcher with diversified experience and knowledge in: Researches & Education, processing scientific and medical data, analytical reporting and administrative skills, practicing general medicine, strong background in management medical emergency, long history of serving patients by successfully diagnosing, treating and also managing their illnesses and diseases.
Prof.Salah Eldin Kassab
Professor Prof. Kassab is currently working as a Professor of Physiology and Medical Education, College of Medicine, Qatar University. His last appointment was the Chairman of the Department of Medical Education and Professor of Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine, Suez Canal University. He worked at the College of Medicine and Medical Sciences (CMMS), Arabian Gulf University (AGU) in Bahrain for over ten years. His last position at AGU was the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Chairman of Medical Education Unit.
After receiving his medical degree in Egypt (1984), he started his career as a paediatrician and two years later, he switched to an academic career in Physiology. After obtaining a Master degree in Physiology (1990), he went to the US and enrolled in training for PhD degree in Physiology at the University of Mississippi, USA in 1992. Following his PhD, he worked as a Post-doctoral fellow and then an instructor at the Department of Physiology, University of Mississippi Medical Centre till 1998. His main areas of research interest are obesity-induced hypertension, preeclampsia, homocysteine and endothelium-derived factors. He worked also as a Professor of Physiology at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI)-Medical University of Bahrain (MUB) from 2009-2010.
Prof. Kassab holds a Master degree in Health Professions Education (MHPE) and has many international activities being currently on the Executive Committee Board of the Association of Medical Education in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (AMEEMR), a WFME-affiliated organization and also served as a WHO consultant in Medical Education and accreditation in the EMRO region. He is also a member of the Editorial and Advisory Boards of a number of journals in medical education and medical physiology. He conducted several workshops on different areas of Medical Education in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Yemen, Tunisia and Jordan. He has published around fifty articles in international peer-reviewed Journals in Medical Physiology and Medical Education.
Dr.Sana Abu Dahab
Research Assistant Dr. Sana Abu Dahab holds a PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences from University of Pittsburgh (2008), she earned her MSc. from University of Pittsburgh in 2005 and her BSc in occupational therapy from the University of Jordan in 2003.
Dr. Abu-Dahab is an associate professor in occupational therapy and has been working at the University of Jordan since her graduation in 2008. She has recently moved to Qatar and joined college of medicine assisting in the development of the research department within the college. Dr. Abu Dahab works on developing research labs, managing grants, and exploring funding opportunities. She is also the environment and safety liaison for the college of medicine.
Dr. Abu-Dahab primary research interest focuses on evaluation and interventions for children with developmental disabilities. She has a special interest in developing and cross-culturally validating assessment tools. She has an active research agenda and pursuing research opportunities in Qatar. She has published several articles and is an active reviewer for a number of international, peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Abu-Dahab has also worked with several non-governmental organization (i.e. Handicap International, Prevention of Blindness Union) on disability related projects, and aims at enhancing the knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to individuals with disabilities.
Dr.Tanya Kane
Assistant Professor Tanya Kane is an Assistant Professor of Behavioral Science in the College of Medicine at the University of Qatar. She holds a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Edinburgh, a MA in Classical Archaeology from McMaster University, a BEd from the University of Toronto, and a BA in Classics and Archaeology from Queen’s University (Canada). Her research interests include globalization of higher education, knowledge-based economies, medicine and gender, especially in relation to the countries of the Arabian Peninsula. Her recent work focuses on cultures of expertise, the intersection of religious and scientific knowledge, language in transnational education and the universality of medicine. Dr. Kane has held posts at Northwestern University in Qatar, Texas A&M University at Qatar and Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar. A former schoolteacher, she has taught in Canada and the United Kingdom.
