Prof.Mohamed Goaied
Professor Mohamed Goaied is a professor of Economics and statistics. He holds a Ph.D in Mathematical Economics and Econometrics from University of Bourgogne, France. Held visiting positions at the University of Paris I and International University of Monaco among other institutions. He Headed the Institute of High Business Studies in Tunis and was the director of the Research Laboratory of Applied Economics and Empirical Finance at the University of Carthage. He has carried out research and consulting activities in the field of Industrial Economics, Development Economics, international and Financial Economics. His research excellence in the efficiency measurement problems and productivity analysis, Panel data modelling, demand analysis and fiscal policy, Labour economics and Tourism economics is attested by numerical publications in scientific Journals like Journal of Productivity analysis, Econometric reviews, International Review of Finance, Economic and Labour review, Tourism Management, among others. He is a Research Fellow at the Economic Research Forum for Mena countries and a member of the applied Econometric Association (France) and the National statistic Board (Tunisia).
Dr.Howaida Takey Eldin
Lecturer I graduated from Business Administration Department, Alexandria University, Egypt, 1985. Then I finished my master degree in Management, Chester University Penn state USA,1993. Received PhD in Commerce (Management) in adoption and diffusion of innovation in organizational setting, University of Birmingham, England, UK, 2005.
Prior to joining Qatar University, I worked as an assistant professor in King Saud University Saudi Arabia from 2005-2007 and as an assistant professor in Alexandria University, Egypt from 2007 – 2009, taught many subjects in Management. I joined Qatar University in 2010 until 2012 as an Adjunct Professor of Management, taught Principles of Management and Human Resource Management, then return back in 2016—2017 to work as a lecturer for Human Resource Management.
I focus on teaching while keeping my subjects related research vibrant. My teaching philosophy has been a culmination of my everyday interactions with students and evolved from an intuitive feel for what works and what does not. I am fully dedicated to enhance my instruction knowledge and tools formally and informally.
Dr.Osama Mah'd
Assistant Professor I am a new faculty member coming to College of Business and Economic, Accounting and Information System department. I will be joining the department as Assistant Professor of Accounting. I hold a Phd from Aberdeen University in the UK, 2010. I have 6 years of experience in Applied Science University in Jordan.
Dr.Emad A. Abu-Shanab
Associate Professor Dr. Emad A. Abu-Shanab earned his PhD in business administration, in the MIS area from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale, USA, his MBA from Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada, and his Bachelor in civil engineering from Yarmouk University (YU) in Jordan. He is an associate professor in MIS. His research interest in areas like E-government, technology acceptance, E-marketing, E-CRM, Digital divide, IT project management, and E-learning. Published many articles in journals and conferences, and authored three books in e-government. Dr. Abu-Shanab worked as an assistant dean for students’ affairs, quality assurance officer in Oman, and the director of Faculty Development Center at YU. He was the MIS Department Chair for the year 2015/2016, and now he is an associate professor in the Accounting & Information Systems Department, College of Business & Economics, at Qatar University.
Dr.Ines Ben Salah
Dr. Ines Ben Salah holds a Ph.D. and MBA in Accounting from Laval University (Quebec, Canada). During her career, she took positions at the University of Dammam (Dammam, KSA) and the University of Tunis I (Tunis, Tunisia). She taught courses in Financial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, Managerial Accounting, and Financial statement Analysis. Her research has focused on the effect of Accounting Disclosure on Financial Statement Users, Pension Funds, and the Stock Market Reaction to Accounting Information. She published papers in refereed journals such as the Journal of Accounting, Finance and Economics, the International Review of Business Research Papers, and Global Economy and Finance Journal.
Dr.Imene Ben Yahia-Boumaiza
Lecturer Dr Imene Ben Yahia-Boumaiza is a lecturer of Marketing at Qatar University. She earned her PHD from Paris Dauphine University in 2009. Before joining Qatar University, Dr Imene has held academic positions as an associate professor at Tunis University (ESC) in Tunisia and as an assistant professor at Universities of Nanterre and Lille 2 in France. She has a strong passion in Marketing and loves her students wherever she taught in Qatar, France and in Tunisia.She has taught various marketing courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Dr Imene is also member of the executive master supervising team at HEC Paris in Doha.She is also an active member of the Research Laboratory ARBRE at the High Institute of Management in Tunis.
Dr Imene has also a business experience with Bristol Myers Squibb Group (BMS) and Private Label Manufacturers Association (PLMA) in France.
In her Ph.D, Dr Imene was interested in virtual communities and their impact on consumption. But her research interests extend to new technologies and social Marketing. Her research has appeared in refereed journals such as the journal of decision systems; the Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, the Journal of High Technology Management Research, Management International etc..
Dr.Houcem Smaoui
Dr. Houcem Smaoui holds a Ph.D. and MBA in Finance from Laval University (Quebec, Canada). During his career, he took positions at the King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (Dhahran, KSA), the American University in Dubai (Dubai, UAE) and the Tunis Business School (Tunis, Tunisia). He also served as a financial engineering specialist with the Ministry of Finance (Quebec, Canada). He taught courses in Corporate Finance, Investments, and Portfolio Management. His research has focused on Privatization and Economic Reforms in the Emerging Markets, Political Institutions, and Islamic Finance. He published papers in refereed journals including top Finance and Business journals such as the Journal of Financial Research, the Journal of International Business Studies, and the Emerging Markets Finance and Trade.
Prof.Mostaq Muhammed Hussain
Professor Dr. Mostaq Muhammed Hussain is a Professor of Accounting at the College of Business. He received his Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Vaasa, Finland, and has been working for last 20 years at different well-known academic institutions in Japan, Sweden, Finland, Kuwait, Oman and in Canada. Dr. Hussain has published a number of research articles on performance management in services, IFRS, GCC Accounting Standards, Technological aspects of accounting and Islamic Banking & Finance in several international refereed journals including Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journals, Technovation, and so on. He received more than two dozens of scholarships, awards/rewards on his academic achievements from different prestigious institutions in Finland, Sweden, Japan, Norway, UK, Oman and Canada, including NorFA (Nordic Fund), CIMO (Finnish Ministries of Education and Foreign Affairs), Japan Scandinavian Sasakawa Foundation, British Council, SHHRC, Finnish Cultural Foundation; besides Literati Club’s “Awards for Excellence” and Sultan Qaboos University’s “Distinguished Research Award”. Dr Hussain is the launching editor of some International Refereed Journals (with Inderscience), and currently serving as the Editor-in-Chief on the “International Journal of Accounting and Finance (IJAF)”.
Dr.Noureddine Benlagha
Assistant Professor Noureddine Ben lagha, Assistant Professor, College of business and Economics
Noureddine Ben Lagha completed his PhD at te University of Paris II Assas in France, his Master degree at Paris II Assas university (France) and his undergraduate studies at Université de Tunis Almanar in Tunisia. Before joining the College of Business and Economics at Qatar University as Assistant Professor of Economics, in August 2016, Noureddine has taught a broad number of courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at Al Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University (KSA), University of Sfax (Tunisia), University of Paris II Assas (France) and at the Institute of higher education of Paris (France). His research interests include, Information Economics, Insurance and risk management, Micro-econometrics, Financial markets and Time series. He has published widely on these topics in internationally respected peer-reviewed journals such as Applied Economics, Insurance and Risk Management, Applied Econometrics and international Development, Global Finance Journal and presented at major conferences such as Eurostat, The French Society of Statistics, and the Midwest Economics Association (USA). He has been awarded research grants from different respected chairs of research including SMF and SABIC Chair at Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, Saudi Arabia.
Prof. Mostafa K. Hassan
Professor Mostafa K. Hassan received his PhD in Accounting from the University of Essex, UK in 2003. Since then, he worked at the University of Hertfordshire, UK; University of Portsmouth, UK, University of Sharjah, UAE and Alexandria University, Egypt. Currently, he is a Professor in Accounting at Qatar University and on leave from Alexandria University, Egypt. He published in a number of reputable international journals such as Journal of Accounting & Organizational Change; Managerial Auditing Journal, Research in Accounting in Emerging Economies, Journal of Financial Reporting & Accounting, International Journal of Disclosure & Governance, International Journal of Commerce & Management, International Journal of Public Administration; Journal of Applied Accounting Research, Journal of Multinational Financial Management; Corporate Ownership & Control Journal, International Journal of Organizational Analysis, Journal of Accounting and Management Information System and International Journal of Accounting, Auditing & Performance Evaluation. His research interests include the sociological analysis of accounting practices, institutional theory and accounting change, corporate governance, globalization, performance evaluation and narrative disclosures. He is an editorial board member in International Journal of Behavioral Accounting & Finance and International Journal of Business and Entrepreneur Development. Dr. Hassan held several administrative positions in the areas of Research and Curriculum developments. Most recent governance/administrative involvements was Chairman of Accounting Department, Member of Accreditation and Curriculum Committee, Member of Institutional Effectiveness and Academic Accreditation Committee, Member of Accreditation and Curriculum, the Executive Manager of Studying in English Program, Alexandria University, Egypt; and program tutor of MA Accounting and Financial Management, Hertfordshire University, UK.
Mr.Bilal El Salem
Teaching Assistant Mr. Bilal El Salem is Teaching Assistant of Accounting at the College of Business & Economics, Qatar University (since August 2016). He undertook postgraduate studies at Bangor University, Wales, UK, from which he obtained an M.Sc. in Accounting in 2015. He further holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Qatar University (2014). Prior to joining the College of Business & Economics, Qatar University, he was a Planning & Quality Specialist (November 2015-August 2016) at the Ministry of Justice, Qatar, and real estate analyst in the national project “Sak”. Back in 2014, he was Academic Advisor and Teaching Assistant of Accounting at the College of Business & Economics, Qatar University. Mr. El Salem has extensive teaching experience in accounting modules. His research interests focus on accounting quality and earnings management, and corporate governance.
Dr.Youcef Maouchi
Assistant Professor Youcef Maouchi holds a PhD in economics from Aix-Marseille Université, France. Before joining the College of Business and Economics at Qatar University, he was a teaching and a research fellow at the Faculté d'économie et de gestion, Aix-Marseille Université and a regular lecturer on Islamic Finance at the Legal and Commercial Cooperation with the Arab World program at the Aix-Marseille Law School, and in economics at the Kedge Business School in Marseille, France.
His work lies at the crossroads of disciplines encompassing economics, finance, and law. His primary fields of research are Islamic finance, Contract law and economics, Institutional economics, and Islamic contracts law. His teaching interests include Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Entrepreneurship.
He is an associate member of the Groupement de Recherche en Economie Quantitative d’Aix-Marseille (GREQAM) research center, and the Aix-Marseille School of Economics (AMSE) at Aix-Marseille University.
Dr.Hamdi Ben Nasr
Associate Professor Dr Hamdi has a particular research interest in Corporate Finance, Corporate Governance, Privatization, Corporate Transparency, Cost of Equity, Labor Protection and Islamic Finance and Economics. He has published his research work in leading finance and accounting journals such as Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Corporate Finance, International Review of Economics and Finance, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, International Review of Financial Analysis and Economic Modelling. He received in 2014 the best paper award for the track “Management and Business Economics” presented at “The XXIII AEDEM International Conference”, Paris, France. He also received the best paper award for the track “International Economics, Finance, Taxation, Regulation” in the 2009 Annual Conference of the Academy of International Business (AIB). He served as a referee for several scientific journals such as Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, North American Journal of Economics and Finance, Economic Modelling, International Review of Financial Analysis, The Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance, and Asia Pacific Management Review. His research has been financially supported by several local and international research funds. Dr Hamdi supervised several Master theses and co-supervised PhD theses.
Dr.Nader El-Sayed
Assistant Professor Nader El-Sayed is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the College of Business and Economics. Nader awarded a PhD degree from Exeter Business School in September 2013, after the completion of a Master degree in Accounting and Finance in December 2009 - in which he obtained a Distinction. Before joining Qatar University in 2016, he participated in teaching a number of Accounting modules at a number of educational universities in the UK, and worldwide (Egypt and Kuwait) since 2002. Besides this, Nader participated in supervising Master projects in Egypt and teaching MBA students in Kuwait. Dr. El-Sayed is enthusiastic to publish research work, either empirical or qualitative papers, at a range of good quality target journals. Key papers have been presented at a number of conferences both in the UK and mainland Europe. They are within the wider field of corporate governance, executive compensation, corporate disclosure and performance. Further, he is aiming to broaden his research aims to include the study of accountability and governance in emerging contexts and emerging nations.
