He received his M.Sc. degree in 2008 from Leipzig University, Germany and then worked on a European Union Project as a Junior Research Scientist. In 2014, he received a PhD from the department of Civil, Architectural Engineering and Mechanics (CAEM) with focus on Engineering Mechanics (Non- Destructive Testing using Ultrasound). After that Dr. Amjad worked as a consultant and research associate in the College of Engineering at the University of Arizona. He participated in several national and international conferences. In 2017, Dr. Amjad became a consultant for American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and assisted Editor- in- Chief of the research journal (ASME -JNDE). In 2018, he joined the College of Engineering at the University of Arizona as an adjunct faculty member and later he was appointed as a lead instructor for introductory engineering design course. In 2022, Dr. Amjad was promoted to Assistant Professor of Practice. In addition to his contribution to academics, Dr. Amjad worked closely with industry. He was interim chief technical officer and senior consultant for instrumentation and signal processing for Non-destructive testing (NDT). His current research focuses on creating smart solutions/devices for Non-destructive testing (NDT) and structural health monitoring (SHM). He has contributed in over 50 peer reviewed journal articles and conference proceedings, authored/co-authored 2 patents (pending). He also mentored several undergraduate and graduate students in engineering design and NDT/SHM projects.

m.kamal@qu.edu.qa (+974) 4403-7713 H10, Zone 6, Room E107 Dr. Mohamed Abbas, a Research Assistant at the Center for Advanced Materials (CAM) at Qatar University, had obtained his PhD degree in Materials Engineering from the University of Malaya in Malaysia. His doctoral field of study involved the effect of sintering technologies and additives on the densification and mechanical properties of advanced ceramic materials for biomedical and structural applications. Prior to joining the Center for Advanced Materials (CAM), Qatar University, Dr. Abbas had worked in academia and industry for nearly 13 years. He worked on various projects and research related to materials science and manufacturing processes. He also participated in many projects funded by the Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF), Qatar University, and industry sector, with total grants exceeding 2M$. These projects have focused on: fatigue analysis of conventional materials, mechanical designs, failure analysis for oil and gas applications, composite materials, nanocomposite, finite element simulation, impact mechanics, and design of pressure vessels and piping. The research work of Dr. Abbas has been published in high-impact journals. In addition, Dr. Abbas has participated in many international conferences. He had been selected as a reviewer for many international journals. Moreover, Dr. Abbas co-supervised several bachelor’s and master’s students in several Malaysian universities. His current research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of advanced materials for biomedical and structural applications and on the fabrication and characterization of metals and alloys for various applications. Also, He recommended many consultations for diverse companies like Ras Gas, Qatar Gas, Qatalum, and Qatar Electricity and Water Company (QEWC). maqbool@qu.edu.qa (+974)-4403-3995 H10, Zone 6, Room E108 Dr. Mohammed Maqbool Ahmed, a specialist in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), is recently transferred from the VPRGS office to CAM. For ten years, he served as the research quality section head and interim quality manager at the VPRGS office. Since 2010, he has overseen the accreditation of laboratory testing in all research centers and the labs of the college of engineering to ISO 17025 standards. He is a participant in the A2LA's accreditation council (American Association for Laboratory Accreditations). From 2000 through 2010, he was a researcher and NDT expert at CAM (Materials Technology Unit). Under his leadership, multiple NDT training sessions for workers at Qatar Petroleum, Qatar Gas, Ras Gas, and other companies in Qatar were held. He has the highest level of certification in NDT (Level 3 in ASNT Scheme)
He contributed in four NPRP research projects and published several papers in high imp[act journals.
He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering from Gulbarga University in India and his PhD is in Mechanical Eng from JNTU.
